Apart from generally known fact that overrunning clutches for agricultural machines are subject to high shock loads, other factors such as high speeds of the implement, heavy rotating masses and PTO shafts being slowed down exert considerable influence on these clutch types. The use of these overrunning clutches permits transmission of high torques under maximum shock loads within limited space available as well as high overrunning speeds and long overrunning periods.

Friction Overrunning Clutch
Friction clutches have been designed to protect the driveline against high starting & peak torques and are able to maintain a higher torque during breakout. In combination with an integrated freewheel protection against heavy rotating masses (tractor driven by implement) is provided for at the same time.
